1. What this service is

Apply For Probate Online is an online self-help information and document-organisation service for people dealing with a straightforward estate in England and Wales without instructing a solicitor.

We provide structured guidance, checklists, calculators, letter templates and a summary of the information you enter. You remain responsible for every decision, declaration and submission.

2. What this service is not

• We do not provide legal advice, tax advice, financial advice or investment advice.
• We are not a firm of solicitors, a licensed probate practitioner, an accountant or a tax adviser.
• We do not act as your executor, administrator, agent or representative.
• We do not submit an application to HMCTS or a report to HMRC on your behalf.
• We do not guarantee that any estate is suitable for administration without professional help.

3. Eligibility

You must be aged 18 or over and entitled to act as executor or administrator of the estate, or be assisting someone who is, with their consent.

The estate must be governed by the law of England and Wales. The service does not cover Scotland or Northern Ireland.

4. Your responsibilities

• Provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information about the estate.
• Check all figures, dates and names before you rely on any output from the platform.
• Read the official GOV.UK and HMRC guidance we link to.
• Obtain professional advice where the estate is disputed, insolvent, taxable, international or otherwise complex.
• Make your own legal declarations. A statement of truth is a personal declaration and must be made by you.

5. Accuracy of outputs

All calculators, summaries and documents are generated from the information you enter. If that information is wrong or incomplete, the output will be wrong. Figures produced by the platform are indicative and must be verified against current official guidance before use.

6. Fees and payment

The suitability checker is free. The guided self-help package is a one-off fee of £349, payable before the estate workspace is unlocked. Government fees, such as the HMCTS application fee and copies of the grant, are separate and are paid directly to the relevant authority.

7. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that, we are not liable for losses arising from your reliance on the platform, from inaccurate information you provide, from delays or decisions of HMCTS or HMRC, or from your failure to obtain professional advice where it was needed. Our total liability is limited to the fee you paid.

8. Account security

You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity carried out under your account. Tell us immediately if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account where the platform is being used unlawfully, where information provided is knowingly false, or where use of the service risks harm to another person.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the service or in the law. The version in force is the one published on this page. Material changes will be notified to registered users by email.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
