Estate asset inventory template
When to use it
- You are starting the estate valuation and need one master list of assets.
- The paperwork is scattered and you are not yet sure everything has been found.
- You want to attach a complete asset list to the probate application and your records.
How to use it
- Add a row for every asset, even ones you think are worthless — closing an account formally matters.
- Record the institution, account or reference number, the date-of-death value and where the evidence is filed.
- Update values as statements arrive; the figures that matter are those at the date of death.
Property
- Address — sole or joint ownership — mortgage outstanding — date-of-death valuation
Money in accounts
- Bank / building society — account number — balance at death — interest to date of death
Investments and savings
- Shares / funds / premium bonds / NS&I — holding reference — value at death
Pensions and insurance
- Provider — policy or plan number — lump sum or death benefit payable — nominated beneficiary if any
Personal possessions
- Vehicles — registration — approximate value
- Jewellery, watches, art and collections — description — value
- Household contents of significant value — description — value
