Regulatory information

An honest statement of what this platform is, what it is not, and where the boundary of reserved legal activity sits.

Not a regulated legal service

This platform is an information and self-help tool. It is not authorised or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, CILEx Regulation or any other approved legal regulator, and it does not need to be, because it does not carry out reserved legal activities.

Reserved legal activities we do not carry out

  • Preparing probate papers for another person as their agent.
  • Applying for a grant of representation on someone else's behalf.
  • Conducting litigation or exercising rights of audience.
  • Giving advice on the specific legal position of an individual estate.

What that means for you

You act as the personal representative. Every declaration, including the statement of truth on a probate application, is made by you personally. We help you organise information and understand the process; we do not step into your shoes.

Because we are not regulated, you do not have access to a legal regulator's complaints scheme or compensation fund in relation to this service. Our own complaints process is set out on the complaints page.

Anti-money-laundering and identity

We verify account identity to protect estate data and to reduce the risk of fraud. We are not a regulated firm for anti-money-laundering purposes, and we do not hold client money or estate funds at any time.
